We’re looking for a Data Analytics Intern to join our Data & Analytics team in May 2023 for either a 12 or 16 month internship. In this role you’ll be exposed to the life cycle of developing data products from building out scalable data pipelines to drawing insights out of our data. As an intern, we’ll train you to tackle some great projects.  You won’t just get your feet wet, you’ll get to do real work!  You won't feel like “just an intern" but be a part of a great team that you'll want to continue working with. If you have a growth mindset, you’ll also find yourself quickly taking on new challenges.


This internship is open to post-secondary students, currently enrolled and returning to post-secondary studies following their internship with us. Candidates must be located in Calgary or open to relocate. 


What You’ll Do

  • Have the chance to broaden your experience and use data in critical and insightful ways to contribute to the evaluation of  the company’s KPIs, as well as analyzing and planning initiatives, contributing to the overall success of the company. 
  • Build, orchestrate and maintain data pipelines from a variety of different sources, while ensuring data quality and integrity
  • Work with the business to develop automated reports or dashboards that clearly communicate insights and recommendations gained from the data and how they can be applied to different teams' processes and decisions
  • Develop a deep understanding of our vast data sources and know exactly how, when, and which data to use to solve particular business problems
  • Employ statistical modeling techniques to draw insights from our data
  • Support the implementation of data governance initiatives


Qualifications

  • Proven passion for data through work experiences, personal projects, or other avenues
  • Working on a bachelor's or technical degree in Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Data Science, or other quantitative field
    • Other backgrounds will be considered if you are able to demonstrate strong quantitative research skills
  • Experience with the programming languages of our analytics stack (SQL, Python) or other related languages is an asset
  • Ability to effectively visualize and organize data through dashboards, charts, reports, etc
  • Deep understanding of numbers, as well as a strong business sense
  • Experiences with the following will be assets in this role:
    • Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and and their BigQuery Data Warehouse
    • Metabase or other business intelligence applications

Candidates must also be eligible to work in Canada. Helcim uses a hybrid work structure where team members can work 3 days in the Calgary office and 2 days at home.
